Effect of Spin

Post by skeedracer » Wed Jul 02, 2008 10:18 pm

I am using a Mac, so I can't run the software and answer this myself, so I'm looking for some data runs from someone.

The marketing side of the industry for drivers keeps talking about low spin as the one sure way to success. Wishon has stated that low spin helps for high ball speeds, but for lower speeds, higher spin is a good thing because it helps keep the ball up in the air. Does the software results support Wishon's position? If it does, wouldn't that mean that there is a middle ground of ball speeds, which, when launched at their optimum launch angle, spin can vary up or down and matter very little at all?

And I also realize that it is very tough for a clubmaker to do much to vary spin rate.

Thanks

I'm leaving for a vacation, so won't be able to respond for a couple weeks.
