increase swing speed and angle of attack.

Post by cac » Thu Mar 24, 2016 5:02 pm

on my day I'm a steady player off about 15. Drives about 200yds. I think its time for a change. I think I my driver swing speed is about 80-85mph yet to be measured. after a bit of reading up on utube etc have decided I need 2 things . 1. to increase my driver swing speed to 120 mph. only joking 90-95 mph. 2. to increase my angle of attack to about +5 degrees. Any views on this... :) Update swing speed measured on a SC100 to be around 84MPH.

Seems like you need more power in your swing. There are more than a few ways to accomplish this.

You say you did reading and watched YouTube. Have you used TrajectoWare Drive to check those hypotheses? Hey, remember what the forum here is. Try it!

I just ran a few trajectories using your 84mph clubhead speed. I assumed you have a loft of 12° on your driver. If it is less, then that is the first place you should look. And even at that, there's still about 7 yards to be had going from 12° to 14.5°.

Anyway, another 5° of AoA would help, and it doesn't end there. You get maximum help from AoA at about 12°. BUT... Even 5° requires a change of swing that will take a lot of practice (and, likely, instruction) to achieve.
